Interactivity
Interactivity in HeyGen gives you the ability to add clickable elements and branching logic directly into your videos, no coding or extra tools required. It’s built for Learning & Development teams who want to turn standard videos into dynamic, self-guided experiences. With clickable buttons, shapes, and text, viewers can be directed to external resources or guided through different scenes, making training more engaging and personalized.
The process begins in AI Studio’s Interactivity mode, where you can design a video as usual and then layer in interactive elements. Each element can be assigned an action: open an external link or branch to another scene within the video. Both options help reinforce learning, whether it’s linking to reference material or giving learners a choice in what they explore next.
A key part of this feature is Wait for Click, which pauses the video until the viewer interacts. This ensures learners control the pacing, giving them time to review, make decisions, or revisit content before moving forward. For branching pathways, Wait for Click is essential, keeping the decision point intact and preventing viewers from skipping critical steps.
As you build, HeyGen provides visual cues to help you stay organized. Interactive elements are marked in the timeline with blue icons, while scenes that may be bypassed are flagged in red. This makes it easy to review your structure and confirm that your branching logic flows the way you intended.
Once interactive elements are in place, you can preview the full experience before publishing. Preview mode allows you to test every clickable element, confirm links, and check branching behavior. When everything is finalized, generating the video produces a fully interactive piece of content ready for distribution.
By transforming passive viewing into active participation, Interactivity makes it possible to create videos that adapt to your audience. From choose-your-own-pathway scenarios to guided learning modules, it’s a powerful way to engage viewers, confirm comprehension, and deliver personalized experiences at scale.
