How to add Gesture Control

Gesture Control allows your Hyper Realistic Avatar to move beyond simple narration and add natural body language, expressions, and environmental details to your videos. These gestures create a more dynamic and expressive presentation, helping your message feel authentic and engaging.

Gesture Control works only with Hyper Realistic Avatars because it relies on real movements captured during the training process. When recording new footage, you begin with about thirty seconds of neutral delivery. After that, you introduce gestures at a steady pace, roughly one every two seconds, and always return to a neutral pose between gestures. This pacing makes it easier for the system to identify and separate each motion. Subtle expressions, small shifts in posture, and even background activity can become usable gestures as long as your face stays unobstructed.

Once your footage is uploaded, HeyGen analyzes it and surfaces gesture suggestions that you can review in Studio. These gestures appear alongside your avatar look, where you can adjust their timing, remove ones you do not want to use, or insert additional gestures manually. You can attach a gesture to a specific moment in your script so it triggers exactly when you need emphasis, clarification, or a visual cue.

Gesture Control also supports expanding an existing avatar. If you already have a Hyper Realistic Avatar, you can create a new look by uploading additional gesture-ready footage. You can then annotate and sync the gestures the same way you would during initial creation, allowing your avatar to grow more expressive over time.

When applied in videos, gestures bring pacing and clarity to your delivery. They help highlight important points and make transitions feel smoother. For best results, keep gestures spaced naturally. A clean transition or scene cut a few seconds before a gesture ensures it appears clearly, and a general rhythm of one gesture every twenty to thirty seconds helps maintain a balanced flow.

Used thoughtfully, Gesture Control turns your avatar into a true on-screen presenter. By blending voice, script, and natural movement, your content becomes more lifelike and memorable.
